At a glance
- People want a plain view of who can and cannot see their notes.
- Personal scores/dashboards are unwelcome; any shared view should be broad and simple.
- Low-effort starts matter: short prompts, minimal friction, and an option to avoid typing.
- Reminders help some and annoy others - cadence and control are important.
Tensions we heard (conflicting needs)
- Typing vs. no-typing: Some felt typing is effortful; others wanted space to write more when it matters.
- Privacy proof vs. convenience: Low-trust people need strong privacy proof up front; high-trust people find too much emphasis slows them down.
- Reminders vs. overload: Gentle nudges help some; others see reminders as pressure or noise.
- Life-first vs. work-only framing: Some want rest/routines/relationships; others expect strictly workplace prompts.
- Social cues vs. pressure: Light social proof motivates some; others avoid anything performative.
- Fast lane vs. hand-holding: Experienced users want speed; newcomers benefit from gentle guidance.
- Skip vs. nothing works: Many liked a visible skip; a few said no tool would feel safe - and that’s okay.
- Access vs. value: Some lacked access/entry points; others tried tools but felt low usefulness or performative.
What we heard, in their words
“Typing out long reflections every day is tiring. If there were quick options to tap, I’d be more consistent.”
“I only feel safe if I know exactly who can see my responses. Otherwise, I’ll hold back.”
“Reminders help sometimes, but if they come too often they start to feel like pressure.”
“Please don’t turn this into another performance dashboard. I don’t want managers rating me on feelings.”
“I’d like the option to write more when I need to, but not be forced to every time.”
“Gratitude or ritual-type prompts can be nice, but they should always be optional and private.”
“The hardest part is trust. If HR or bosses can peek at my entries, I won’t use it honestly.”
“Sometimes I try these tools but they feel like a tick-box activity. They need to feel genuinely useful.”
“If it’s quick and low effort, I’ll do it. If it feels like work, I’ll drop it.”
“I want to focus on my whole life - rest, health, relationships - not just stress at the job.”
Our design choices (bets, not magic bullets)
- MCQ-first, typing optional - reduces friction while keeping depth available by choice.
- One simple, shared company-wide view - no personal or team dashboards, no scores.
- Lives inside Slack/WhatsApp/Calendar - easier access, less setup.
- Gentle, adjustable reminders - opt-in cadence; no pressure to participate.
- Whole-life tone - rest, routines, relationships; not just job stress.
Why these choices fit the tensions
- Typing vs. no-typing: Quick MCQs lower effort; optional notes preserve depth.
- Privacy proof vs. convenience: A plain “who sees this” screen up front; not the headline every time.
- Reminders vs. overload: Opt-in cadence + quiet hours keep nudges useful, not spammy.
- Social cues vs. pressure: Opt-in rituals (e.g., gratitude) build connection without forcing participation.
- Fast lane vs. hand-holding: Sub-1-minute check-ins for pros; skippable tips for newcomers.
- Access vs. value: In-app entry (Slack/WhatsApp) removes “where do I start?”; private-first design focuses on personal usefulness.
Our promise of trust
- No hidden dashboards or employee-level data for founders, managers, or HR.
- By default, everyone sees the same simple company-wide view.
- If we ever create management-only recommendations (e.g., “consider an off-site” or "organize a seminar"), this will be stated clearly in the privacy policy and communicated to employees in advance.
- No surprises, no undisclosed channels.
- If this promise is broken, we refund 2× the contract value (or a stated amount) to the company - and any employee who flags a verified breach will receive a separate payout.
